  • Five sweet faces are my motivation: my husband, Ethan, sons Elijah, Gideon, and Jonah, and baby girl Seraphina.

From the moment I was born, my father shadowed me with his camera. He captured every emotion in black and white and color - the smiles, tears, frolics, and family adventures. He still has all those slides, periodically pulls out the projector (a project all its own), and treats his grandchildren to the joys of seeing Momma as a tiny ankle-nipper herself.

When my first was born, I wanted to give him the joys my father had given me. As my next two sons were born, I didn't want them to feel left out. (So often the second child and those thereafter have few photos of their childhood, if any. My younger brother complains of this often.)

My photographic interest and skills grew from taking countless pictures of my own children, starting with my firstborn in 2003. Compliments on those shots led to studying the art and science of grabbing micro-seconds of time, and acquiring more and more professional-level equipment.

As my "way of seeing" matured, three rambunctious boys learned to put up with the Mamma-razzi. And what started as a passion to document my own children grew into an expanding pursuit: taking largely unposed pictures by natural light - family portraits, really - for family and friends, friends of friends, and so on.

“Any day spent with you is my favorite day.  So today is my new favorite day.”  ~Winnie the Pooh

I just love when I can capture love and warmth in a family with my lens.  Sometimes I don’t see it with my bare eyes, but then I upload the images to my computer and my heart melts a little.  Thanks again, Dee.

These two cuties always bring a smile to my face.  To watch them play is to be a part of a magical world of trains, princesses, magic wands, cars, mud, pinwheels and flowers.  I love their sense of imagination and how their mom encourages them to live in the moment and embrace all that is childhood.

Hello out there!  Yes, I’m still here.  Getting back on the band wagon and posting the rest of my sessions from late 2012.  This sweet family came for Jack’s 1st birthday pictures.  He was super fast, but I caught a few.  That is the beauty of a fast shutter speed!  Freezing moments in time, even when your one year old is running a blur around your feet.  Thanks again, H Family!  I hope to see you all sometime in 2013. xoxo Lauren

Love, laughter, and silliness–this family is full of all of them!  I don’t know how they get through the day, because I am always laughing until tears when we are all together.  What a treat to do their family pictures again this past fall.  The kids have certainly grown since this session in 2011.  Thanks again, Candice + Lee–always a ton of fun!
